Transactional email
Also called: operational email, service message
A transactional email is a message triggered by a specific action or account event — order confirmation, password reset, shipping update — rather than by a marketing campaign. It matters because these messages are read far more attentively than promotional ones, and because marketing opt-outs generally do not suppress them. That is also the trap: loading a receipt with offers can reclassify the message as marketing and undermine the very consent position you were relying on.
