Retention curve
Also called: retention chart, survival curve
A retention curve plots the share of a cohort still active one month, two months and so on after their first purchase or sign-up. The shape tells you more than any single retention figure: a curve that flattens shows a stable core of repeat customers, while one that keeps falling towards zero means the business is renting customers rather than keeping them. Always split cohorts by acquisition source, since an average curve hides very different sources.
