In-app message
Also called: in-product message, in-app card
An in-app message is content shown inside the product while someone is using it — a modal, banner, card or tooltip. Because it reaches people who are already engaged, it converts well for onboarding steps, feature adoption and upgrades, and needs no messaging permission. The constraint is reach: only active users ever see it, so it cannot win anyone back. Pair it with a channel that reaches dormant users, and cap how many messages a single session can show.
