Event tracking
Also called: behavioural events, event schema
Event tracking records the specific things people do — viewing a product, adding to basket, starting a subscription — as structured records with a name, a timestamp, an identifier and properties. Almost every trigger, segment and funnel report in a lifecycle programme reads these events, so loose naming spoils everything downstream. Agree a schema before instrumenting: one name per action, consistent property names and types, and a named owner. Renaming a live event quietly breaks historical reporting.
