dbt

dbt is a tool for building the transformation layer of a warehouse in SQL: each model is a select statement, and the tool works out dependencies, builds tables and views in the right order, and runs tests on the results. It brings marketing data the habits application code has had for years — version control, review, testing and documentation. For lifecycle teams the payoff is one shared definition of an active customer, reused by reporting and by the audiences sent to campaign tools.
