Data warehouse
Also called: warehouse, analytical database
A data warehouse is a central database built for analysis rather than for running an application: it holds history from many source systems in a structure designed for querying across them. For CRM teams it is where order, web and campaign data finally sit side by side, which is what makes a consistent customer definition possible. Separating storage from compute made loading raw data cheap, so the hard part shifted from deciding what to keep to modelling what you kept.
