Activation
Also called: activation moment, aha moment, first value
Activation is the point where a new customer first gets real value: a first order delivered, a first successful use of the product, a profile completed. Teams define it because it predicts retention far better than sign-up does, and it gives early lifecycle programmes a single clear goal. Choose the activation event by finding which early action separates customers still active months later from those who are not, then check the pattern holds across several cohorts.
